Meyer Poly Plow Center Pivot Repair / Meyer E-47 Plow Pump Rebuild

Customer came by and dropped off the truck and plow. He bought it used, and after some inspection, it is clear it had a hard life. I must say now that I have never seen an A Frame so mangled and still functional.

Here you can see both sides of the A Frame angle iron are bent.

Here you can see how twisted and bent the A Frame is!

The left mounting ear was twisted badly. This happens when you lose a mounting pin while plowing. In this case, an operator lost the right mounting pin, and it appears that the plow dropped down on the right side, and went as far as it could under the truck.

Upon inspection of the pump we found an "oil pan drain plug" in the unit. Most likely it was stripped due to overtightening at one time, and a heli-coil inserted.

Lots of gunk in this unit.

Definitely a lot!

Here is the center pivot hole in the sector. It is out of round pretty bad.

All welded up and round again. We also welded up the holes in the A Frame, but did not take pics, sorry. We also learned a hard lesson on this job. We spent 3 hours chasing an angle problem after rebuilding the pump and installing new couplers. In the end, it was the BRAND NEW COUPLERS that were bad. They would allow fluid to flow one way, but not the other. We had just gotten in a dozen sets, and the 3 different sets we tried were all the same. We have since switched to the "pin type" couplers, and will not  sell any more of the ball type, sorry. The pin type are more expensive, but they are also more trouble free. Meyer Service Bulletin SB215 Dated March 2006 states that the (old part# 15072 Ball type) couplers used on E-47, E-57, and E-60 units are now obsolete and have been replaced with 22145 (female half) and 22146 (male half) which are PIN TYPE COUPLERS. You can buy them right now in our eBay Store
