Meyer ST 7.5 gets a NEW Skin

Faced with the rising cost of new plows, re-skinning your trusty rusty plow is a viable and often cost effective option. This plow is approximately 12 years old. The powder coat has exceeded it's lifespan, and is just promoting more rust. You can click on any image for a larger version. Not many dealers (if any) will re-skin a plow, but we will. Most will just try to sell you a new Moldboard.

You can see the moldboard has rotted through in many places.

So we brought it in to peel the skin. A Plasma Torch makes it a lot easier.

It was amazing that after all the years there was still some powder coat left on the inside of the ribs and frame.

The original skin was 12 gauge steel. The new skin is 11 gauge steel, slightly thicker.

The cost of this procedure varies, depending on a few factors. The main one being if the trip pivot pins come out of the sector easily. This plow had one that was seized in the moldboard. It was fairly easy to get out. When they are seized in the sector, it adds A LOT to the price. Another factor is finish. Painting adds quite a bit to the price as well. This plow will be painted by the customer. We painted a small section that will be hard to get at once the sector and A Frame are connected to the moldboard. IF you bring us just your 7.5' moldboard (No A Frame / Sector attached to it), and we just replace the skin, no paint, the price was $350 in 2009. The price goes up from there based on options. A new ST-7.5 moldboard is NO LONGER AVAILABLE from Meyer.
